Fall Writer’s Series Begins September 29
The Lewistown Public Library, in conjunction with the Friends of the Library, will once again host a Writer’s Series during the fall. The series starts out with the play “Mark Twain’s Diaries of Adam & Eve” performed by the Montana Repertory Theatre. Adapted for stage by Ron Fitzgerald, the play will be performed in the upstairs meeting room of the library at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29. The director and actors will take questions after the performance. The doors will open at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free.
On Wednesday, October 9th at 6:00 p.m., local author Maxine Melton will talk about the process and rewards of writing her memoir, Roots in the Prairie Dust. Melton’s memoir focuses on the years 1931-1937, when she was a child growing up in Eastern Montana. Melton, who did not become an author until later in life, writes that the memoir is a “point of reference” for those who come after, a heritage to be remembered.
On Wednesday, October 23rd, Bozeman author Richard Tenney will discuss his new medical drama, Not With My Brain You Don’t. Griff Wooden is an intelligent, handsome doctor who practices cardiology in the oldest hospital in Chicago. Formerly a mental institution, the building that houses Chicago General Mercy Hospital seems out of place in the middle of a new, glitzy medical plaza. But despite taking pride in providing a warm environment for its patients, the hospital hides a dark secret. In this gripping thriller, the fate of a psychopath with a brilliant brain and an uncontrollable desire to hide from society hangs precariously in the balance as revenge quietly lurks in the shadows and waits its turn. Tenney’s presentation will also start at 6:00 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room of the library.
All programs for the Fall Writer’s Series take place in the upstairs meeting room of the Library, and all of the programs are free to the public.
