Happenings at the Lewistown Public Library – July 20

August Book Station Big Event

August 1 will be a big event at the Book Station.  Three different new publications will be honored.

Elise Dubois’ life and book, “The Missing Stories” will be featured with a complimentary breakfast served beneath tents with tables outside the Book Station from 9:00 am to noon.  Elise Dubois, the little Dutch girl who survived the 5-year Nazi occupation of her beloved Holland, lived the final years of her life in Lewistown, where she was surrounded by friends.  Elise died in January of 2006, with her manuscript nearly complete but still unfinished.  Before her parting, Elise asked her brother to complete her book, which he did.  This event is co-hosted by the Lewistown Writer’s Group, the Lewistown Art Center, and the Friends of the Lewistown Public Library.

Inside the Book Station, during the monthly used book sale from 9:00 to 2:00, you may meet three authors who will be sharing their recent publications.  Joyce Litz will be available to autograph her book “The Montana Frontier: One Woman’s West.”  Taken from the journals of a Victorian-era woman who followed her husband from New York to a small town in Montana, these reflections include birth control and child rearing, gambling and prostitution, education and health care in the Mountain West.

Christina and Kirby Salisbury will share their co-authored book “Treehouse Perspectives: Living High on Little.”  Raised on a farm northeast of Great Falls, Kirby did not predict an unusual life.  However, this story is the result of a life spent in Central America and is about snakes, storm and survival, as well as about success and the serenity achieved by finding the equilibrium sought by Kirby and his wife Christina.
